Routines and Procedures
- Entering: Please enter at a voice level 0-1; take your seat immediately. If you need something, get it and be in your seat when the bell rings. Please keep your hands and body to yourself and set up your work area. You are expected to be at a level 0 when the bell rings.
- Exiting: The bell does not excuse you, I excuse you. When the bell rings please stay seated until I excuse you. Thank you!
- Need supplies? Handle these needs before the bell rings. Borrow what you need. It’s expected that you bring all the supplies you need - including a pencil. If you are unable to obtain supplies see me and all things will work out.
- Sharpening pencils: and other individual preparatory needs BEFORE THE BELL RINGS PLEASE!
- Cell phones and other school rules: We will faithfully abide by the school rules. While in class please have cell phones turned off and in your backpack. If I see your cell phone out during class time I will have to take it and deliver it to the office where your parent will have to pick it up after school .
- How to set up your workspace: Place all daily supplies on your desk - things not needed for this class stay in your backpack. Absolutely no backpacks on desks.
- Tardy: You will be marked tardy if you’re not at your seat when the bell rings. Class starts immediately.
- Process for beginning work: Your desk should be clear of everything but materials needed for THIS class; nothing personal or from another class needs to be on your desk. Be sure to read and follow directions.
- Courtesy: This means to be considerate and helpful to all in our room. Examples: let another go first, say “please,” “thank you,” “excuse me,” and “sorry.” Everyone, including you, has rights!
- If you are absent: Please check google classroom for lesson information and homework and see me for materials distributed during class.
- Speaking: Please raise your hand and wait until you are called on to speak. Please be aware that all students have the right to participate and the need to share “airspace” as equally as possible.
- Listening: Listen closely to others as they speak. Learn the skill of active listening. Remain open minded and, if you’re arguing a point, imagine and think through another person’s point of view.
- Cardinal Rule: LISTEN AND DO NOT SPEAK IF ANOTHER PERSON IS ADDRESSING THE CLASS!
- Transitions: This is when we switch from one part of the lesson to another. Please do so as smoothly as possible so we’ll keep a productive atmosphere. Remain focused.
- Partner/group work: Talk with your group only, and limit your conversation to the topic you have been asked to work on. Do your fair share.
- Bathroom Policy: Please raise your hand and I will excuse you, make sure to sign the “Bathroom Sign Out” clipboard before leaving the class.
- Moving around: Personal space is yours. General space is ours. Please keep all parts of you and your belongings out of other’s personal space and we’ll do the same for you. And please help keep all areas of the room clean and picked-up.
- Personal property: I wish everyone was honest. That hasn’t happened yet. Until then, don’t bring valuables. If you do, keep them secure. And please respect others’ personal property.
